The statistic that we only use 10 percent of our brains may be common knowledge, but it’s actually just an urban myth incorrectly attributed to Albert Einstein. But while it is a myth, its suggestion that we have untapped brain potential is true. We can certainly harness our brain’s high capacity to expand our knowledge and learn new skills. It’s exciting to know we can learn how to surf, play the guitar or speak Cantonese even though we have jobs that require a fair amount of heavy lifting from our brains!
In many ways, your organization’s data is like your brain. (If you think this blog post is taking a weird turn, bear with me for a moment!) Here’s a key similarity: Your organization’s data—just like your brain—has significant untapped potential. This is exciting news, too! You can leverage data to achieve many gains such as running your organization more efficiently and increasing revenue.
But just like our own complex brains, our organizational data is quite complex. Unwieldy, too, as we have volumes of data and can’t possibly keep up with all of it. Consider these statistics from a Navicure-commissioned survey conducted by Porter Research:
- 55 percent of healthcare leaders don’t have a data analytics solution in place.
- However, 45 percent of those are actively seeking a data analytics solution.
Think about the untapped potential of your organizational data. Could you make more informed decisions or process improvements that will save money or increase revenue?
